Jazz Fest Survival Guide
💵
CASH ONLY at food booths
ATMs on site have long lines. Bring $60-80 cash for food and drinks.
☀️
Sunscreen is non-negotiable
There is almost no shade at the Fair Grounds. SPF 50+, reapply often.
💧
Hydrate or die-drate
Bring a sealed water bottle (they allow it). Refill stations inside.
🧊
Bring a small blanket or chair
Low-back chairs and blankets are allowed. Stake out your spot early for main stages.
👟
Closed-toe shoes if it rains
The grounds become a mud pit. Rain boots or shoes you don't care about.
🍺
Try the Crawfish Monica
The most famous dish at Jazz Fest. Creamy crawfish pasta from Jasmine's. Line is worth it.
🎵
Don't camp one stage all day
The best discoveries happen when you wander. Hit the smaller tents — Gospel Tent is legendary.

Getting Around
🚕Uber & Lyft
Your best bet for getting around. Surge pricing hits hard during Jazz Fest — leave early or be patient. Set your pickup on a main street, not a side alley.
🚋St. Charles Streetcar
The oldest continuously operating streetcar in the world. Runs up and down St. Charles Ave right past Hotel Perle. $1.25 exact change or use the RTA app. Beautiful ride through the Garden District.
🚶Walking
NOLA is a walking city. The French Quarter, Warehouse District, and CBD are all walkable from the hotel. Wear comfortable shoes — the sidewalks are uneven (they call them "sidewalk surfing").
🚲Blue Bikes
Bike share stations all over the city. Great for short hops. Download the Blue Bikes NOLA app. Do NOT bike drunk on Bourbon Street.
⚠️Jazz Fest Traffic
DO NOT drive to Jazz Fest. The Fair Grounds area is a total gridlock. Take an Uber to nearby and walk in, or better yet grab the Jazz Fest Express shuttle from downtown.
🌙Late Night
After midnight, stick to well-lit main streets. The French Quarter and Frenchmen Street are busy late. Uber is easiest — have your phone charged.

⚜️ A Little History
Founded in 1718, New Orleans is a city like no other—a melting pot of French, African, Spanish, and Creole cultures that gave the world jazz, po'boys, and second lines. From the wrought-iron balconies of the French Quarter to the oak-lined streets of the Garden District, every block tells a story. Jazz Fest has celebrated this heritage since 1970, drawing music lovers from around the globe to the Fair Grounds each spring.
We can't wait to celebrate Jenna! ⚜️
